New Model - Avventure Speciale.  Projected price $3,880.

Click on the Rene Herse Photo Page for images of this frame.

We have just prototyped a new model of Rene Herse - the Avventure Speciale.  This frame is built with cast lugs that are handcut to the Rene Herse shape (much less time intensive and costly than handmade lugs).   This frame is gorgeous and beautifully crafted to the highest Rene Herse standard.   It is a road-sport design built with skinny lightweight tubing and with clearance for 700c x 32mm tires.  This is the perfect machine for that special adventure at Eroica or other similar events.  The projected price of this frame is $3,880.  If you are interested, please contact us.  Unlike other Rene Herse models, this frame we expect will have an approximately 4-5 month build time at most.  The lugs will be hand-cut in Boulder.

If you're price sensitive, this isn't for you.  If you're looking for the ultimate blend of amazing craftsmanship and proven desigh (we build many other rando bikes too so we know what works) a Rene Herse may be for you.  All Rene Herse frames at this time feature handmade lugs (bottom bracket is an option).  Making a set of lugs is about as time consuming as making a complete basic frame!   Unlike the high-end audio industry, we won't tell you that a Rene Herse will do amazing things that other bikes won't.  But we will tell you that a Rene Herse frame may be far more useful and at least as pleasing to look at (for us anyway) as many artworks that are a magnitude of order more expensive.

Note - All Prices Include Single Color Joe Bell Paint (standard colors - some colors incur upcharge)

Base Prices of Rando Style frames

A frame featuring a full custom geometry and either oversize or traditional diameter tubing.  Tubing is carefully selected to create a frame that works in harmony with the rider.  Lugs are handmade to insure a perfect match for the required angles and tubing diameters and are cut in one of the traditional René Herse designs.  The seatstay connection is in the traditional René Herse style.  A custom chromed front rack is provided with lighting interfaces according to the specified lighting system.   Paint is a high-quality single color with the legendary René Herse name handpainted on the downtube and headtube.   Box striping applied by hand is also included.   Brake boses are cantilever style.  Rear dropouts are handmade, and the front dropouts are the Schmidt dropouts for connectorless front hub.

The handmade bottom bracket shell option allows for the option of bent chainstays which can provide even greater clearance for wider fenders.  A handmade shell is also extremely elegant to the trained eye.

Ordering Policies

A deposit of $500 will secure your place in line for a new René Herse bicycle.  At the time the deposit is made, you will be informed of the approximate total price.  You will also be given a time window for expected delivery.

Within 45 days of the actual commencement of your new bicycle’s construction, a non-refundable total of 50% of the bicycle's total purchase price (including the already paid $500 deposit) will be required.  In the unlikely case that the final cost of your new bicycle will be significantly different than the anticipated price at the time the deposit was made, the deposit will be fully refundable should the customer wish to cancel the order.  Similarly, if the completed bicycle cannot be completed within the time window for expected delivery, the buyer may cancel the deposit as long as construction has not commenced.
