Offered here is a 4 pack. Each package does one bike and has basic plastic plugs and finishing tape. Yellow to white, Black to white, red to white, pink to white. Note that the red is a medium to lighter red, almost a burgundy (we're having trouble describing it) and isn't as far from pink as we might like. But on the shop's bright red Medici bicycle it looked great.
The 80's / early 90's are calling! Time to finish that fade paint job Italian bike and break out the disco ball!
Perfect for a frame with a fade paint job! This could be the final touch you need! And if a single color bike, it still may look ok depending on your taste. After all, disco was popular yet classic rock fans were terrified by it. This bar tape is probably similarly polarizing.
Pelten handlebar tape by Ciclolinea. Pretty wierd stuff, it fades from white (all sets do this) on to another color as you go to the drops. This stuff is pretty plasticly feeling, but it's certainly thicker than simple stuff like Benotto. Actually it has a pretty decent feel. In a tennis racquet kinda way.
According to the directions, you tape the top part first, and then cut the tape, and then tape the bottom. And it all merges somehow at the brake levers. We did this on a set even with the adhesive (pretty good on the set we played with) you still will need to secure things with tape, we think, and hide it all under the brake hood. We also tried not cutting the tape and did it continuosly from the top, and that worked but we did get a bit of bar showing (not bad) on the backside of the lever. Only thing is the tape isn't super long. The bar we used was around 40cm center to center. So for a wider bar you probably will want to try starting a bit outward from the bar's center (up top), and maybe use some finishing tape that let's you buy a bit more length on each side. We did one of our personal bikes with this stuff and it's pretty cool.
Note that when you take the tape out of the package, you may notice that there is an outer layer that seems "crinkely" - like peeling Saran Wrap. But once the tape is installed, it looks just fine. So that outer layer may be intentionally loose, but it doens't seem matter as the stuff wraps surprisingly nicely.
